Why Coconut Oil is my must have beauty essential

Ok, I'm very late in catching onto the whole coconut oil craze as to be honest I thought it was just that, an overhyped product that had just been so overly exaggerated by someone supposedly in the know and then passed on to others falling for it's super power claims, and I thought how good could a completely natural product really be?

Well let me tell you ladies, I'm a total coconut oil convert and I was completely wrong about just how amazing this product is! A jar of organic coconut oil will set you back about £6 and will last you for months. It comes in a solid form but melts and turns to oil as soon as it comes into contact with the warm of your hands.

Below is a short list of ways in which you can use it, but there are sooooo many more, I just wanted to focus on the main beauty uses that I find helpful, but if you Google it, there are literally hundreds of uses for it, from cooking to cleaning and general household use.

1.To Gain Longer, Stronger Lashes
I have put this at the top of the list as it's something that I have had the most success with. Over the years my once long luscious lashes have become and bit brittle and sparse and I have tried many 'lash growth' serums with not much luck at all. I started using coconut oil on my lashes as I read that this could help and literally within a couple of days I noticed the difference, I was amazed how much better my mascara application was and how long they looked and I think that the one thing pretty much all women want is longer lashes right? So this is a definite must try for all.

2. Moisturiser
I have been smearing all over my face each night for the last month now and it's has done my skin the world of good, coconut oil is not only super moisturising but its natural antioxidant properties make it great for stopping wrinkles and skin irritation and it has natural anti bacterial benefits so will fight off any spots and other nasty's.

3. Make up Remover
Coconut oil can be used as a natural make up remover and works just as well as one you would buy but is far better for your skin as it's all natural so its a real win win for you skin and your purse!

4. Hair Mask
Forget all of these super pricey hair masks that you can buy and instead slather some coconut oil on your hair before bed for a super moisture boost to your hair. Remember to tie your hair up and wrap it on something to avoid your pillow case being covered in oil. Try and old t-shirt or vest top. Then just wash as normal in the morning and you will be left with super soft and silky hair.

5. Digestive Help & Weight Loss
The high concentration of beneficial fats in coconut oil make it helpful for digestion. Its antimicrobial properties can help fight irritation and infection in the gut from Candida.
It can also help speed up weight loss when used daily. Try eating a spoonful each morning. It's also been claimed that when eaten daily, it can improve your sleep.

6. To eliminate Cellulite
This is something that I have not yet tied but when used consistently on skin it can help get rid of cellulite so it's definitely something that I will be testing out!

7. Shaving cream
Use as shaving cream for a close shave and super moisturized legs to boot! Just be careful not to spill any and slip ladies!

8. Soothe Sunburn
Spread over sunburn for relief of both soreness and redness.

9. Cuticle oil
Use in place of your usual cuticle oil and I think you'll be surprised at how good it is.

10. Soften and deodorize your feet.
Before bed, soften cracked, rough skin by applyly a generous layer of coconut oil and slip on some cotton socks. It has natural antibacterial properties, it’ll deodorize as it softens.

So you see, these are just some of the brilliant benefits of this £6 jar of goodness and this is why it's my must have beauty item, not only for it's amazing benefits but for it's money saving too.

Let me know if you try any of these and what you think of the result.

  1. Wow I had no idea you could use it in so many ways! I'm definitely going to try it just for the eye lash lengthening. I need this.
