One of the key trends for AW16 is velvet, as seen all over the Paris fashion week catwalks and seen from designers such as Stella McCartney and Valentino to the brilliant Vivienne Westwood.
I must say, I do love a little velvet and in fact I used to have a deep purple velvet dress back in the nineties which I adored and I really wished that I'd kept it as it would have been bang on trend right now, particularly as shades of purple are a big colour trend this season. My oldest and dearest friend Michelle actually mocked me about the said dress not so long ago but I'm betting on the chances of her lusting after a similar style in the shops in the coming months. Ha!
You will notice everything from clothes to shoes, bags and accessories in velvet all over the highstreet and online in the coming months. Some of the high end designer examples are this super sophisticated Robert Cavalli velvet gown below £1815 and this masculine chic Fendi jumpsuit priced at £1680.
Prada have gone crazy for velvet on their shoes, check out the gorgeous red velvet pumps below £440 and their two tone velvet sandals at £580
And it's all about the velvet cape seen below from Anna Sui £530 and Saint Laurent at £1525! all very little red riding hood, but a perfect cover up for a night out.
Here are some highstreet examples..
This seriously classy off the shoulder gown is from Missguided.co.uk priced at £35 and also from Missguided.co.uk is this high neck bronze dress at £40.
Last but not least, are these fab 'Baro' ankle boots from Faith priced at £59
So there you have it girls, velvet (or faux velvet) will be everywhere you turn this season and I for one, will be welcoming it with open arms.
